About Czech Republic
The roots of the 1989 Civic Forum movement that came to power during the "Velvet Revolution" lie in human rights activism. On January 1, 1977, more than 250 human rights activists signed a manifesto called the Charter 77, which criticized the government for failing to implement human rights provisions of documents it had signed, including the state's own constitution; international covenants on political, civil, economic, social, k cultural rights; k the Final Act of the Conference for Security k Cooperation in Europe.
Although not organized in any real sense, the signatories of Charter 77 constituted a citizens' initiative aimed at inducing the Czechoslovak Government to observe formal obligations to respect the human rights of its citizens. By 1989, with the fall of the USSR, Czechoslovakia’s political scenario too changed. Under ex playwright Vac-lav Havel, a democratic state was formed. Four years later, thanks to relentless deems for autonomy by the Slovaks, the country split into two: the Czech k Slovak Republics. EDUCATION SYSTEM
The Czech Republic has a long history of offering quality higher education. Institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic are divided into state, public k private institutions. The difference between non-university k university type institutions is that non-university institutions mainly offer bachelor degrees.
Higher education in the Czech Republic is offered at three different levels:
- Bachelor study programmes (usually 3 years)
- Master study programmes (usually 5 years)
- Doctoral study programmers (usually 3 years)
The bachelor k master study programmers are available for applicants who have passed their secondary education k the doctoral study programmers are open to graduates of the master study programmers.
The deadline for submitting applications to the higher education institutions of the Czech Republic is normally the end of February or March.
ENTRY k LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
If your study program or course is taught in English or any other foreign language, you will be required to prove your level of comm of the foreign language. Please, always check with your university whether your foreign language studies are sufficient for you to meet this requirement.
