Adelaide
As the capital of South Australia, Adelaide is a
sophisticated, modern and affordable place to live, work and study. With a
population of 1.1 million, Adelaide has all the hallmarks of a major urban
center with modern and classical architecture, a bustling retail hub and a
multicultural population. The city has wide streets and central squares ringed
by 900 hectares of lush park lands. Traffic is rarely congested, people are
relaxed and friendly, the air is clean and the public transport system can take
you to the city’s white, sandy beaches or the Adelaide Hills within half an
hour.
Sydney
Sydney is one of the world’s most loved cities, with a sunny
and vibrant buzz that makes it the ultimate summer destination. There’s no
denying the beauty of its sparkling harbor and landmarks galore, and there are
always plenty of things to do, from sightseeing and al fresco dining, to fun in
the sand and surf at one of Sydney’s idyllic beaches. Be prepared to love every
second of your time here. It is a geographically stunning, friendly and
cosmopolitan city that people from all over the world call home. A place of
pristine beaches, chic cafes and New York-style restaurants and bars. Nature is
always close by with stunning beaches 20 minutes away from most campuses and
major national parks in every direction.
Melbourne
Melbourne has a reputation as the cultural and creative hub
of Australia. It has a cooler climate than Sydney with lots of indoor
activities on offer. There’s always something exciting happening in Melbourne’s
hive of bustling, creative lane ways with their boutiques, restaurants, cafes
and bars. The city is also a melting pot of many cultures so you will find
fantastic food, markets and cultural events. Both our campuses are centrally
located in trendy inner-city neighborhoods, so going to class is easy and fun!
Brisbane
Brisbane is Australia’s third most-populated city (after
Sydney and Melbourne) and offers a sunny, warm climate. Brisbane offers all the
conveniences of a modern and cosmopolitan city. It is culturally bursting but
still offers a relaxed lifestyle that’s affordable and perfect for students. If
you love beaches and nature the beautiful Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast beaches
and famous Great Barrier Reef are close by. Studying in Brisbane also gives you
access to our cutting-edge campus that overlooks the beautiful Brisbane River.
This is no ordinary campus! Expect light-filled atrium, collaborative learning
spaces and the coolest interior design.
Auckland
Known as the city of sails, Auckland is
New Zealand’s most populated city with 1.4 million people currently residing
here. The central city boasts a harbor, museum, art gallery, several concert
and theater venues, town hall and countless public reserves, parks and
recreation areas. A variety of shopping, dining and entertainment options cater
for a range of interests. The Media Design School campus is not only close to
some of Auckland’s finest restaurants, cafes and shopping districts; it’s close
to some great hiking spots, beautiful beaches, and adventure activities galore.
Popular day trips from Auckland include taking the ferry to Warlike Island or
driving to Matamata to visit Hobbit on, where Lord of the Rings was filmed.
Living
Expenses
As a condition of your student visa you must have sufficient
funds to pay all costs of studying in Australia, including tuition fees, living
expenses, Overseas Health Cover, return airfares and visa fees.
Knowing the average living costs in Australia is an
important part of your financial preparation. The Australian Government
recommends a single student budget of AU $18,610 per year, with an additional
AU $6,515 per year for a spouse and AU $3,720 per year, per child.
Torrens University Australia’s accelerated bachelor courses
allow students to minimize the expense of studying in Australia. The standard
duration of a course is two calendar years rather than three years as at most
other Australian universities.
English Language Test
and Minimum Score
At Torrens, we understand that some international students
may not have the IELTS requirements for direct entry into our courses which is
why we have partnered with the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) in
Adelaide to offer students English for academic purposes pathways. We also have
English courses available on our Sydney campuses for students wishing to
improve their language skills.
