Why should you migrate to Canada ?

Canada ranked the most attractive destination for immigrant entrepreneurs in 2023. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Canada was ranked the most attractive country for immigrant start up founders and entrepreneurs compared to all other OECD countries.

Canada welcomes millions of temporary residents each year. Unless an individual is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or from a visa-exempt country, an individual who wants to enter Canada for a temporary purpose must apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

Five of Canada’s provinces have invited candidates to apply through provincial immigration programs this week.

Immigration is a shared responsibility between the provincial and federal governments. When a province nominates a candidate through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) it strengthens a candidate’s application for permanent resident status. This is especially true for Express Entry candidates who automatically receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points when nominated.

Quebec and Nunavut do not use the PNP. Quebec has a unique agreement with the federal government in which it has full autonomy over the selection of its economic immigration programs.

All three Employer Job Offer draws took place on August 15. Among them, the province invited 853 international students with a score of at least 61 and a job offer in technology, healthcare and the skilled trades.

There were also 375 candidates invited under the Foreign Worker stream with job offers in the skilled trades and a minimum score of 30 as well as 1,131 skilled candidates with job offers in health and tech occupations and scores of 46.

The third Employer Job Offer draw saw 256 skilled candidates with job offers in in-demand skills and scores of 23 or above receive invitations. These candidates had job offers in specific in-demand occupations such as in agriculture, construction, and other select occupations.

On August 17, the province announced that it had invited 2,835 candidates in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream throughout the week with experience in technology and health-related professions and scores of 473 or above. On August 16 Saskatchewan issued Expressions of Interest (EOIs)  for the first time since June 8. The province held draws for candidates in its Express Entry and Occupations-In-Demand streams but for the first time did so over six draws that depended on the candidate’s country of residence and occupation. In each draw, the province says the selection is to support recruitment initiatives to connect qualified candidates with labour market opportunities.

Under its Express Entry stream, the province invited 23 candidates who are residing in Ireland, 224 who are residing in India and 98 residing in Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

Under the Occupations in Demand stream, 12 candidates who are residing in Ireland, 207 who are residing in India and 78 who are residing in Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Ukraine received invitations.

Candidates in each draw required a minimum score of 60.

On August 15 British Columbia held four targeted draws for candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate Streams of the BC PNP (including Express Entry candidates).

The largest draw invited 107 candidates in a tech occupation who had a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 88.

The remaining three draw results were as follows:

· 27 early childhood educators and assistants;

· 19 candidates in healthcare occupations; and

· Less than five candidates in other priority occupations

All candidates required a minimum score of 60.

Prince Edward Island

On August 17 PEI invited 142 candidates in two separate streams of the PEI PNP.

The province invited 138 candidates in the Labour and Express Entry stream. These invitations were issued to individuals working for a PEI Employer with a minimum EOI score of 50. Over the past 12 months, over 97% of all PEI PNP invitations have been issued to Labour and Express Entry candidates. There were also four invitations issued to candidates in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur category who met the minimum point threshold of 102.
